Weekend in Denver

This weekend I flew and spent four days in Denver with my lovely aunt and uncle who I will be moving in with this summer! Next year, to save money I will be attending the Community College of Denver, to then eventually transfer to a 4-year college and earn my bachelors in Architecture.

This weekend was spent touring the campus, getting to know the city, and bonding with my future roomates! I landed on Thursday after flying from PDX (Side note: My mom and I tried a Nitro Masala Chai Tea in PDX and it was heavenly) and ended up at Union Station. My aunt took me out to dinner at an Italian Restaurant called Luca (cute, right?) and I got to know one of her neighbors and good friend, who was amazing company. The next day, Friday, we slept in and headed towards campus around 11:00. The bus leaves directly from the apartment to the center of campus, how amazing is that!? Anyways, we walked around the Auraria campus which consists of CCD, CU Denver, and Metro University. Since all three colleges share a campus; the campus feels huge and doesn’t feel like a community college campus, also, they share most of the buildings and classes which were gorgeously designed.

After wondering around and falling in love with the area, we took a tour to further grow our excitement. Around 4, we headed home, refreshed, and left for dinner. We ate at an “Asian Fusion” restaurant which was.. unique. It offered a few delicious dishes; however, unlike our dishes, our waiter was not a fan favorite. After telling us what time we need to leave and digging through our food we decided this may not be a place we want to return to.

While digesting we headed towards the symphony where we watched a Mary Poppins show. The display not only left you on the edge of your assigned seat, it lit up the inner child inside of you. I had a “spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down” stuck in my head the rest of the night. We came home in a pretty sleepy state of mind which led to sleeping in the next morning as well.

Saturday, our self pampering day. After sleeping in, we ate some mango, got some chai from Larimer st., saw an alley full of cats and headed for the spa. This spa was like no other… I had never been so relaxed getting a pedicure. It consisted of walking into a dimly lit room with with the beautiful sound of falling water and the fresh scent of essential oils. Once we sat in our chairs they reclined into a heavenly a bed. Once we got nice and comfy under our fuzzy blankets, we were soothed with a heated neck pillow and a heavy eye mask. I think I was snoring before the nail technician had even began. I was slowly woken up after a relaxing massage with Eucalyptus essential oils. If this doesn’t make you “OoooOoo” or “AHhhahh” then you must not enjoy comfort or relaxation.

After being permanently set to zen mode, we grabbed lunch, got a souvenir for my pup from the most adorable animal shop around, and grabbed some sweets. We came home to recharge by watching some of the British baking show before our Italian dinner.

Sunday morning, not only do I lose an hour of beauty sleep, I have to say goodbye to this amazing weekend with my even more amazing aunt and uncle.

But I’m excited to go home and see my puppy and sweetie.
