Hooting and Howling

“You have got to stop Hoot shaming me.” Says my uncle. This is a serious topic in our house. We always knew my uncle was different but thanks to this pandemic, we have discovered just how different.  There is a lot that has come to light because of this deadly virus; it has brought heroes out from hiding, puzzle masters front and center, and has managed to expose a man’s true identity. Honest, I believe my aunt would have still married my uncle if she had known about his condition. She loves him that much. He may not be the only one with this way of life. Your neighbor, your loved one, your own roommate may have the same secret they have been hiding. Due to this pandemic, they will no longer be able to conceal it from the rest of us any longer. Pay attention. Every night at 8, in the Denver area, they will reveal themselves. Do you know what happens at 8pm? People go outside and they howl. It is a fun and clever way to bring the community together, and make some cheerfulness of this stressful time. Well, being the weirdos that we are, we have decided to join the howling. My aunt and I participate by filling our bellies with air and letting it out as loudly and dramatically as we can. My uncle on the other hand, the musically gifted one in the group, is unable to do so. My sweet uncle is only able to make a soft, owl-like, hoot sound. We still love him.
